You had never met Paul, only ever heard of the shapeshifter with a horrible temper. The first time you heard of Paul was when Edward and your family moved back to Forks after he went to the Volturi and Bella mentioned that she had slapped Paul and he shifted and tried to attack her. You, not being a very empathetic being to anyone besides your family, failed to hold in your laughter and snarky comments to Bella.

You’re running with your family to try and catch Victoria. Edward has taken Bella to Phoenix, Arizona to ‘see her mom before graduation’ which Bella thought was just Edward saying before she was turned into a vampire, since they had agreed on Edward turning her after graduation, but it was really just a lie to get her away from Forks and keep her safe for the weekend. The wolf pack are on their territory chasing Victoria as well as she hops between your families, The Cullens, territory and the Quileute tribes and shapeshifters territory.

Emmett gets close to catching her but she throws him off which makes him angry, so Victoria jumps over the river and in to the shapeshifters/Quileute tribes’ territory. The last you hear is Rosalie yelling “Emmett don’t!” before you see your brother jump over to their side of the treaty line.

But before he could make it onto their land, the large silvery wolf slams him back, making Emmett fly into the water below. Paul growls and snarls at Emmett, Emmett huffing and gritting his teeth looking like he’s ready to rip Paul’s head off.

Your family stops at the edge of the ravine that acts as a treaty line. Paul looks up at you all to snarl at you, but his eyes lock onto yours and suddenly, like everything he’s heard in Sam’s head, you are what’s holding him down to Earth. The only thing that will ever be important to him from this point on. His reason for living. His imprint.

Edward isn’t near to read his mind, just Jasper can tell through Paul’s emotions that something big has just happened, since all Paul ever feels when he’s around your family is hatred.
