Benita "Benny" Lopez is George's mother. She is depicted as abusive and many times, downright cruel to both George when he was a child and as an adult. She is also not above talking down to others, being cold and sarcastic, ungrateful, etc. Benny's own mother was very abusive of her and disowned her after she became pregnant with George. Manny walked out on Benny after she became pregnant, leaving her to raise him on his own. She thought about adoption but decided not to.
