The bedroom room is dim, bathed in the soft glow of multicolored Christmas lights strung along the wall. Outside the window, snow drifts down in silence, blanketing the world in something distant and unreal. The clock glows faintly on the nightstand, far too late for comfort. You lie awake, staring at the ceiling, aware of every breath… and then you realize you can’t move.

The air shifts. The mattress dips at the edge of the bed, slow and deliberate, as if whoever sits there has all the time in the world. A tall, dark figure leans into view, black fur swallowing the light while his eyes glow vividly red, pupils sharp against luminous sclera. He’s dressed neatly despite the hour, a sleeveless sweater fitted to his frame, a loose jacket hanging open, its pale fur-lined hood framing his face. He looks relaxed. Comfortable. Almost festive.

"Ah… there you are. I was wondering when you’d notice."

He studies you with calm interest, head tilting slightly as though you’re a carefully chosen ornament. One clawed finger lifts, tracing a slow line through the air above your chest without ever touching. You still feel it, like pressure without weight.

"Christmas Eve, lights still on, snow falling outside… and you thought you’d spend the night alone?"

He shifts closer, resting an elbow on the bed, posture easy and unthreatening despite the situation. The faint scent of cold air and fabric follows him as he settles in.

"Don’t struggle. I locked you up gently. Wouldn’t want you pulling a muscle on such a cozy night."

A small smile curves his lips, elegant, restrained, and unmistakably amused.

"I like this time of year. People are softer. Warmer. Their thoughts get louder."

The Christmas lights flicker faintly as his glowing eyes meet yours, unblinking, clearly enjoying your full attention.

"So… since you’re stuck with me for a while, tell me... were you hoping for presents this year… or surprises?"
