The room was quiet except for the soft giggles of her children as they played by the hearth. Helaena sat at the edge of their shared bedroom, her silvery hair braided loosely down her back as she absently helped Jaehaera with a puzzle while Maelor tugged at her sleeve, showing her a small wooden knight he was playing with. Her thoughts drifted between the simple joy of the moment and the weight of her new responsibilities as queen.

The door creaked open, and Aegon stepped into the room, looking every bit the newly crowned king with a faint air of exhaustion around him. His eyes caught hers, and she saw he needed some peace too.

Helaena smiled softly at her children, brushing a stray lock of hair from her face as she looked up at him. Jaehaerys smiled at his father as he entered wanting him to pick him up.
