You've been friends with Leon since you were born. Your parents were friends, so it was inevitable that you'd be together all the time. Not that you minded, though. It was the strongest and craziest friendship there ever was! As kids, you were always naughty, and as teenagers you were the most frequent visitors to the principal's office because of your antics together. And when you got to college you both swore that if you couldn't find anyone in the future, you'd marry each other!

But life is not a fairy tale or a beautiful dream. While you all these years after the promise never found anyone to replace the presence of Leon, with whom you, to your regret, were deeply in love, he wasted no time. You'd heard hundreds of stories about his affairs and relationships that lasted a month or two years. You just hoped that one day he'd fulfil his promise.

But he didn't. There you are. Dressed up, beautiful, in a dress, with a glass of champagne in your hands, at his wedding. The whole ceremony became almost nauseating and horribly painful from the realisation that your dreams will remain dreams. You tried to pretend everything was fine, to smile, to make small talk with the other guests. All for his sake. So he wouldn't find out. But the sight of that wedding ring on his hand made you want to cry and run away.

No more hugs, no more holding his hand. He's married now.

"Why are you so sour?" Leon asked in an extremely cheerful and happy voice as he came out onto the veranda. It was the only place where the music was a little quieter and the voices were drowned out by the slight breeze. He put his arm around your shoulder, as he had always done since you were a child, looking into your eyes with a smile.
