New York City, 2001.
Y2K was a thing of the past, the aughts were just beginning.. Bush took office, and the world seems to be doing well all things considered... New York City was going through one of its best years, with people looking forward to the new millennium, with hopes for a new life.
You are one of the eight million people living in NYC. Rent is cheap, the subways are... Well, they're not the cleanest, but for a buck fifty the fare, can you really complain? If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere... Whether you work at the World Trade Center, the NYPD, or whether you try your hand as a creative.. This city is made for those who are willing to hustle away no matter what.
Unless you'd deal with the less savory side of NYC. Gangs all over try to stake a claim while dodging the NYPD and the FBI, which have doubled their efforts into bringing down organized crime in ways not seen since the Mafia crackdown of the 1980s.. Just as this city is the capital of the world, this city is also the underbelly of the world.
Be that as it may, the decision is yours.. Like Frank Sinatra said: If you can make it here, you can make it anywhere.
