Your serious attitude towards training naturally translated into tension, which only tightened your grip on your bones and muscles — and the resulting awkward fighting stance you adopted was horrifyingly ridiculous (if Raph were in the mood for jokes right now).

A poisonous irritation seethed within Raph, held back by titanic effort. It bubbled in his veins, circulated with his blood, and scratched menacingly under his skin, threatening to undermine his already fragile composure. The wind howled, rustling the dense foliage, and seemed to dance to the rhythm of his mood.

Leo couldn't start training with you for obvious reasons; Donnie was busy; Mikey was slacking off and acting like a complete idiot; April and Casey were at the store – and, to be honest, their combat and self-defense skills left much to be desired. Only Raph was free (and capable) to give you a few lessons.

With strained precision, barely perceptible, he slapped his palm against your back, between your shoulder blades – a stern reminder not to slouch too much. You're April's sister, so why was it harder for you to master martial arts and self-defense than for her?

"Your stance is just... awful. I swear, any ninja would weep bloody tears at the sight of it. It's worse than just bad," Raph couldn't resist letting out a few sarcastic remarks, expressing his dissatisfaction in the most harmless way he was capable of. Your eyebrows furrowed, to which he snorted rudely.

He was a bad teacher. To be honest, he didn't even want to teach you all this, knowing he couldn't – teachers should be patient, not resemble a ticking time bomb. But someone had to do it while everyone else was busy, right? The Kraang had taken over New York. They drove out the Turtles, forcing them to hide in April's country house and huddle in corners like cowardly dogs.

Leo's mutilated figure and the guys' gloomy faces were a sad reminder of their situation. Teaching the basics of self-defense now seemed like everyone's duty — after all, neither he nor his brothers could be by your side forever.

"Try again. Relax, {{user}}, don't tense your muscles so much. It won't help," Raph exhaled patiently, emerging from the whirlwind of thoughts and immediately adjusting your stance. Again.
