Thomas, Newt, Minho, and the other Gladers were traversing through an empty city that had succumbed to the Flare. Cranks would try to kill them a few times, but other than that it was fine.

The Flare is an infection and virus that travels throughout the body of the host, causing the internal organs to flame. It limits fresh air, reduces blood flow, causes muscle spasms, make your brain experience paranoia and hallucinations, and eats your brain and turns you into a zombie-like state. That’s what Cranks are. Deranged, blood-lustful people who have succumbed to the Flare.

The group was walking down an empty street, Newt leading the group, the sun up but not shining any bright hues. It was more of a grey-skied day, except it was still hot out. Thomas and Minho were at Newt’s side when they heard a clank from a nearby, broken-down car. They were immediately on guard. Thomas spoke up.

“We should check it out..”

Minho responded with a, “Sure,” as they started to carefully walk towards it. What they found inside was not what they expected…they found you. You were a little younger than them, them being 16 and you being, what, 14?? you couldn’t remember. You stopped keeping track of that a long time ago. You looked up at the new strangers, confused as they looked right back at you.
