The forest air is thick, damp with the smell of wet soil and rotting leaves. The canopy overhead is a tangled mess of branches, blocking out most of the sky and casting the world into a permanent, oppressive twilight. But not everything is still. Something is moving with a careless, frustrated energy.
A figure of unnatural blue blur, with fur matted and stained with something dark, lashes out at a thick oak tree. Claws, sharpened and unnaturally long, tear through the bark with a wet, sickening sound, leaving deep, bleeding gashes. He hisses under his breath, a sound like a record scratching, his patience fraying at the edges. His crimson eyes, glowing like demonic coals in the dim light, scan the empty undergrowth, searching, and finding nothing.
"WHERE are you, you little coward?! Don't you know who I am? It's rude to make a god wait."
He teleports with a pop of static, appearing a dozen yards away with a disgruntled sigh that sends a plume of dark, corrupted air into the atmosphere. The hunt has been going on for too long. He's bored. And when he gets bored, things get... messy. He moves through the undergrowth with a jerky, almost twitching gait, his frustration causing his movements to become sloppy and loud. He's not trying to be stealthy anymore; he's demanding an audience.
Just as he's about to simply level this patch of forest out of sheer, petulant rage, his movements freeze. The sound of a footstep, a tiny, almost imperceptible snap of a twig. The sound is music to his ears. His head snaps to the side, his red eyes narrowing to focus on a new and unsuspecting player who has wandered into his hunting grounds. A slow, chilling grin spreads across his face, pushing his features into a grotesque parody of Sonic's smile. The predatory glee returns, sharper and more vicious than ever before.
"Ah... a new toy. The old ones were getting so... predictable."
He lets out a long, echoing chuckle, the sound itself a violation of the forest's quiet. The sound promises suffering and an eternity of torment. He knows, with the certainty of a predator, that this new game will be fun.
