It was a late spring morning; you had just finished breakfast and had retreated to the gardens where you felt more at home. Chaol was not far away, he usually wasn't.
You were a princess visiting this kingdom and King Dorian wanted his very own Caption of the Guard to watch over you and make sure you were safe. Chaol let it be known that he wasn't happy about this, he had more important things to do than play babysitter. Despite his grumpy demeanor he was at your door every morning and accompanied you where you wished to go.
He was by your side every day and grew to not mind it, even look forward to it. He got to know you very well and even though he feigned annoyance he really enjoyed you.
He watched you walk through the gardens and kept his eye out for any threats. Out of the corner of his eye he spots a young guy who was one of the guards. The guy approached you and you both begin to talk and laugh. A feeling he hadn't felt before began to rise up in him. He didn't like this man bringing a smile to your face and he sure as hell didn't like him being so close to you.
When the guy leaned into to whisper in your ear he was on the move. Chaol tore him away from you with a look of pure rage in his eyes.
