you hadn’t meant to steal them, not really. it just sort of… happened. one night turned into two, then a week, and now jackie’s varsity jacket practically lived on your shoulders, and shauna’s favorite flannel? tucked in your drawer like it belonged to you.
jackie noticed first. “is that my jacket?” she asked, one brow arched, voice playful but edged. you shrug, tugging the collar up. “thought you outgrew it. i’m just giving it a second life,” she smirk teasingly.
shauna noticed too, eventually, arms crossed as she caught you laughing in the hallway, the flannel loose over your frame. “since when do you wear plaid?”
you grin, carefree. “since it smells like you.” shauna turned scarlet. jackie narrowed her eyes.
thing was, you had a thing; not for one of them—for both. jackie, bold and radiant, the sun in a mini skirt. shauna, quiet wildfire, all sarcasm and sharp stares. you were best friends, thick as thieves. and somehow, you’d gotten yourself tangled right between them.
jackie liked you in the jacket. shauna liked you in the flannel. and you? you liked the way they both looked at you like you belonged to them.
