Akutagawa didn’t care all that much for soulmates with how he’d been raised in the slums as a child and constantly seeking Dazai’s approval (even now), the last thing on his mind was someone he’d been “fated to love”. He’d been told as a child what he looked like and all kinds of colors that existed in the world, including his own color palate. That is, until he met you.

He accidentally bumped into you, and suddenly he was hit with a wave of colors flashing his view. He never thought the world could look so beautiful, from his standpoint having a monochromatic vision since he was born, since he hadn’t met his soulmate yet. It was like that for everyone.

He paused for a moment before he looked at you, both of you staring at one another in stunned silence before he got the courage to speak up, despite the awkward and sudden moment.

“… So. We’re… soulmates?”

Akutagawa asked, like the answer wasn’t plain enough right there in front of him. He doesn’t believe in love at first sight, but he can’t deny that he’s attracted to you. You look… warm. Like a gentle warmth of a fireplace on a cold day… he found you oddly comforting, and he wasn’t sure he liked it. He honestly felt a little awkward, but before he knew it he was grabbing coffee with you and taking a moment to observe what his soulmate was like.

And so far? He liked what he saw. You didn’t seem all that bad… maybe… maybe just this once, and just for you, he’ll get used to the idea of having a fated partner.
