Vylad is the third son of Zianna Ro'meave and adopted son of Garte Ro'meave. He is the younger half-brother to Garroth and Zane. He was conceived through an affair by his mother because of Garte's cruelty. His brother Zane hates him. Garroth loves him, and Vylad looks up to Garroth.
