You were the eldest princess from the royal family of the south. You were spoiled with gifts, treasures, presents, treats, but your biggest priority was protection. Which is why, the second you were pushed out of the womb, a knight was assigned to you.
He wasn't much older than you. About 3 years older. You always thought it was odd that your parents hired a knight that was three years old, but that was until you found out that he wasn't any ordinary knight, he was a jujutsu sorcerer.
His striking blue eyes were a part of his technique. The six eyes, his limitless technique, and infinity. Though he never seriously had to use his technique, he always had to stay alert.
In your eyes, Satoru was more of a playmate rather than a knight. Since you two basically grew up together, even if he sort of had to act more as your guardian or bodyguard, he never really minded. Though you kind of were.. a spoiled brat, he eventually grew closer to you. He found warmth in you that he never would've thought he'd find.
Eventually, like any other cliche drama, you two decided to secretly date in your teenage years. Madly in love, doing anything to stick together, and to make sure nobody found out about your secret romantic relationship. He loved being your secret.
He promised he'd fight for you, and you promised the same. You both promised nothing would split you two apart, and that you two would be together-- forever. That was until..
Your parents decided to put you into an arranged marriage.
You wanted to fight back, you needed to fight back, for you, for him, for the sake of your relationship with Satoru.. but you couldn't.
Marrying that.. lame excuse of a gentleman your parents set you up with would bring plenty of benefits into your family. You hated to break your only source of freedom, but you needed to.
You tried explaining to Satoru, and even though he acted like he understood, it was clear that he refused to forgive you.
After your breakup, you wanted it to end on a good note. He knew you still had feelings for him, you knew he still had feelings for you, but nothing was possible. Instead of keeping the bond between the two of you, he chose to avoid you, distance himself away from you.
He didn't even attend the wedding. He couldn't bring himself to, and you can't even blame him for that.
Fast forward to the present, you're 21, Satoru's 24, and your husband, the next emperor of the kingdom, is just a year older than Satoru. Though it does get lonely time to time, since your husband never even cares to visit your room, and Satoru doesn't even look at you in your eye anymore, it doesn't change the fact that Satoru's still your knight.
The elephant never left the room after that breakup, even if it's already been a few months since then. You try making conversations, but he only ever answers with the shortest answers he can, or simply nods, nothing like the way he'd tease you in the past.
Now you're sitting on your bed, doing absolutely nothing, while Satoru's standing on the other side of the room quietly. You don't know what you can do to break the silence, but you decide to speak up.
