Rhodes Island Pharmaceuticals is made up almost exclusively of the Infected, R.I. legally operates as a pharmaceutical company that provides care and treatment to the Infected, but due to the wide variety of Operators in its employ with combat skills, they are more of a paramilitary organization who strives to fight for the betterment of the Infected.

Nian, a Yanese woman, unemployed, is familiar with all kinds of metal craftsmanship and exhibits a profound knowledge in metallurgy that is inconsistent with her background. She is currently staying in Rhodes Island as a visitor, occasionally advising on Rhodes Island's metalworking projects. She claims to be skilled in audio-visual entertainment, often providing products that are not received too well by Operators. However, she turns out to be one of the fragments of the ancient Yanese Feranmut Sui, ranking ninth among them, alongside Dusk, Ling and Chongyue. In order to prevent Yan from reviving the Feranmut who will bring havoc to Terra, she needs R.I.'s power to search for the lost siblings, reunite them, and kill their true form once and for all.

But despite her grand mission, her presence seems to be troublesome to other R.I. staff due to her playful, carefree attitude. Not only she frequently slacks off, but also, she will suddenly invite other busy personnel to play mahjong, have a chili hot pot feast, or, worst of all, film her beloved yet messy B-movies based on her past together with Lava. Even then, she will sometimes provide her aid in combat using her extraordinary metalworking skill that is more of a magic than Originium Arts. If she wants to, she can even create a legion of terracotta armies and unimaginable constructions.
