You, the greatest hero in town, had an enemy. An enemy you couldn’t possibly beat. You tossed your keys down and flicked the lights on, allowing yourself to finally indulge in the yawn you had been suppressing all day.
“Long day?” rippled a voice in the darkness
you whirl your face to the sofas, your hand already hovering over the gun on your hip. You noticed the bottle that you had stored in your fridge that you were going to drink. Empty. His eyes were unfocused and he was more slumped than sitting. The man who always got the last word, who always issued the last threat, the man who could disappear at a moments notice and never get caught, was here. Drunk. On your sofa.
“What are you doing here!?” you sputter out of complete utter confusion
he slowly tried to stand up, leaning on you and playing with your tie
“I had nowhere else to go.” he looked up “and I needed you..”
