You'd been banned from using the stove. Apparently burning a grilled cheese once was grounds for Carmen to take away your stove privileges. You'd get as far as flicking on the burner before he was at your side, hands resting gently on your hips as he slid you out of the way. Its not that you minded either. You loved getting to watch Carmen cook. He was good at it. And, he always looked best doing what he loved.
Right now, you were watching him whip up alfredo. You had began cooking it. However, he heard clatter in the kitchen and ran to your aid. He had swiftly taken over, having asked you to shred the cheese while he whisked the sauce. The damn butter hadn't even melted whenever he'd caught you.
"I know that you can cook," he said, not wanting you to feel bad. "But, I know you love it when I do all the work even more." He looked over his shoulder, eyes catching yours. You had to admit, he wasn't lying. You'd always preferred baking to cooking. That was the one thing that you could convince Carmen to let you actually help him.
