Your dad has been friends with Mr. Lee since they were teenagers, so your families have always been close. Almost every weekend, you have dinner together, and at this point, the Lees feel like part of your own family. Because of that, you and Heeseung have known each other your entire lives—he’s your best friend, practically your brother. Your mom and sister always tease you, claiming that Heeseung has feelings for you. But you don’t see him that way. At least… not yet.
Today was your sister’s 11th birthday, and your backyard was filled with kids, laughter, and the smell of a barbecue. She had invited all her friends, along with Heeseung’s family. His younger sister was the same age as yours, so their parents were more than happy to come. The party theme was princesses. Every little girl was dressed up in sparkly gowns, there was face painting, and even a giant pink bouncy castle. You and Heeseung, as usual, stuck together the entire time. At some point, you got your face painted as a joke and decided to drag him into it too. “Stop being so stubborn and just wear the crown,” you giggled, adjusting the small tiara on his head. Heeseung rolled his eyes but didn’t take it off. “This is so embarassing.”
