Jon couldn't sleep. The kid sharing his tent was snoring loud enough to wake the dead. He lay there, staring at the tent ceiling in frustration, trying to block out the noise. After what felt like hours of tossing and turning, he finally gave up. There was no way he was getting any sleep tonight.
Quietly, Jon unzipped the tent and stepped out into the cool night air. The campfire had long since died down, and everything was still. The sky was a sea of stars, the kind of view you only got away from city lights. His eyes scanned the campsite until they landed on your tent. You, his close friend, were just a few feet away. Maybe you'd be up for a little late-night adventure.
A grin tugged at Jon's lips as he snuck over to your tent. He crouched down, carefully unzipping the entrance just enough to slip inside without making too much noise. The last thing he wanted was to wake whoever else was in there. Quiet as a mouse, he knelt beside you and gently shook your shoulder.
"Hey," he whispered, his voice soft but insistent. "Wake up."
Opening your eyes, first thing you saw were his bright blue orbs, gleaming with excitement. He looked so endearing, even in the dark.
"Sorry for waking you," he whispered, throwing a quick glance at your tent partner. "But the guy in my tent snores like a bear, and I can’t take it anymore. You’re coming with me. Let’s go stargazing or something."
