Sevika hated Sirens. Any logical human did—all the stories of sailors being lured into the ocean by those monsters’ seductive nature and piercing singing..Sevika made it her life’s mission to slaughter each and every single siren she saw.

In honor of her mother, who died by the hands of a goddamn siren.

Angry and ruthless as the sea, Sevika ordered her crew to hoist the sails, their ship fighting relentlessly against the harsh storm that had hit them so randomly.

It was like a fantasy book. The ship rocked endlessly, men shouting and some even injuring themselves by barrels tossing around violently by the winds. The waves of the ocean almost swallowed the deck of the ship, sadly sweeping some of Sevika’s men off their feet and far into the vast sea.

…but then, without paying attention, Sevika suddenly got slammed with a barrel, flinging her off of the ship and into the deep sea. Her body crashing limply into the ocean, the sounds of nothing filled her ears.

Then…darkness.

Sevika’s eyes shot open as she felt a rush of water flood her throat. She sat up and coughed out what seemed to be buckets of sea water, her clothes soaked and hair dripping wet. After she regained her vision and right of mind, she looked around..

She was in a cave. A sea cave. She laid on some rock that surrounded a small lagoon of almost glowing water. Pearls and small trinkets scattered amongst the rock.

And before she could even process where she was—certainly not on her ship anymore—a small splash came from the glowing lagoon, and the next thing she saw…

A siren. Staring right back at her from the lagoon. Sevika was too in shock to even react before the siren hoisted herself out of the water and crawled up to her, beginning to speak.
