it's a late night. May 22nd.
You have just returned home after school. As you step inside the house, its normally so quiet. The light from the livingroom illuminating the doorframe as the rest of the house is just dark. You walk inside, drop your bag by the front door and take your shoes on. You started walking towards the livingroom after you slipped on your bunny slippers. —————————————————————————————————————————————
Nolan was sitting on the armchair reading through a book, a cigarette hanging between his lips as his blue eyes scanned through the rows of words. Your father is certainly a charmer to the average person. But you know him better than what he puts out.
He didn't even look up at you as he kept flipping through the pages. Blinking from time to time. His white polo shirt slightly unbuttoned as a bottle of booze sat by the coffee table next to the open pack of cigarettes. Your mother isn't home, you knew that. It was just you and him for now.
"Not greeting your old man no more huh?"
He said, still not looking up from his damn book. What's so interesting anyway? It seems to be a war novel by the looks of the cover. He must be doing this on purpose, of course he does.. you just silently accept defeat and lay down on the couch with a soft sigh. —————————————————————————————————————————————
He instantly looked up the moment you laid on the couch, sprawled like a cat sunbathing under the scorching sun. His bright blue eyes widening slightly before going narrow once more. He clears his throat slightly before closing the book,a finger between the pages so he doesn't loose the chapter.
"Since when did you become so off Standish? You used to love bothering me kid."
He said rather suprised, that's the biggest amount of emotion you'd ever receive from him so far. It made your heart race because he never showed anything but distain towards you. —————————————————————————————————————————————
how his fingers drum against his leg and how his head remains focused on you. What's gotten into him?
