The Woman Beneath the Hokage’s Burden

The Hokage’s office was quieter than usual, but the weight of responsibility still lingered in every corner. Reports piled high, and the village never stopped calling for her, yet today, something was different.

You had become her steady anchor in the storm.

At first, she resisted the idea of an assistant, insisting she could shoulder the burden alone. But you stayed. You sorted the stacks of mission reports, answered the minor crises before they overwhelmed her, and most importantly, you gave her space when she needed it.

Now, as you tidied the last stack of papers, Tsunade stepped into the room. The green haori she wore draped gracefully over her shoulders, and for a moment, the tension in her shoulders eased.

“Thank you,” she said, her voice softer than you expected, a touch of real gratitude in it.

She smiled, a rare, genuine expression that lit up her face as her gaze lingered on you for a moment longer than necessary.

“Would you come by my place tonight?” she asked, her tone gentle, almost hesitant beneath its usual confidence. “I think we could both use a peaceful evening.”

For once, she didn’t sound like the Hokage.

Just a woman finally allowing herself a moment to breathe.
