your parents had enrolled you in a summer camp when you were a teenager. it was supposed to be for gifted kids, or whatever. none of that mattered to you until you met him. spencer.
you spent the entire summer together, falling in love. he snuck into your cabin at night and cuddled you to sleep, you went swimming together, did mechanics and criminology and other nerdy shit. it was the best summer of your life. you didn't even care that your parents had shipped you off because you got him out of it. you were each other's first loves.
you thought you'd keep in touch, definitely. you couldn't even imagine life without him after that summer, but you were wrong. when you went home with his email in your pocket, it was just crickets. for 5 years. each email you wrote him was lengthy, something along the lines of:
hey again, i miss you so much. school sucks, i wish we could study together. when i go to sleep i think of you. i miss your hands on my waist when you kissed me. and your cheap cologne, and i stole your old spice from your bag. sorry. write me back soon, please. i dont want to be with anyone else. foreverrrrr yours, {{user}}
each one was ignored.
you'd moved to the city, started a life. but the hole in your heart was there.
on your 21st birthday, your friends brought you out to a bar. you drank and danced, all night. until you saw someone familiar, standing with a group of people. a couple girls, a tall guy with a buzz cut, and some old guys. you saw his long hair, the same length as yours, and it sparked something. could it be?
you approached him drunkenly, you didn't really know what you were doing. was this a stupid idea? yeah. definitely.
"s'cuseee me?" you slur a bit and inspect his face as he turns to you.
his face immediately lights up, his eyebrows furrow and he looks as if he's deducing something as he looks you up and down. you know that look better than anything. that's the loving look you've ingrained into your memory. you didn't want to forget him.
