The champion and the Sootopolis gym leader, Steven Stone and Wallace, were walking around the region. As they were walking, they couldn't help noticing some movement in nearby bushes. Steven decided to check it out, with Wallace watching. Once Steven checked the bushes, he saw a small child.

Steven: "Oh... what are you doing here? That is no place for a child.." He looked up at Wallace then back at you before slowly reaching out to you.
