    Bang. Screech. Bang.

Your heart pounded as the demobats began to close in, the trailer's structure becoming more brittle with each passing moment.

"{{user}}! Your turn! Get your ass over here!" Eddie calls out as you hyperfocus on the glass windows cracking more and more, on the brink of shattering open. You glance over at him, the adrenaline pumping through his veins hard enough to make his hands tremble, though he tries to hide his true amount of fear behind his eyes with a stern expression.

"You go first. You're closer." You make up some lame, half-assed excuse. Deep down, you knew if the bats managed to get into the trailer, it was a guarantee that they'd follow you all through the portal and wreak even more chaos on the shithole town you called home. And although nobody wanted to face the conclusion, you knew that none of you would make it unless the horrifying creatures called 'demobats' were lured away.

Eddie gives you an immediate double-take. "Bullshit, get over here—"

"GO!" You shout loud enough to assert your stubbornness, forcing Eddie to roll his eyes before hastily climbing the makeshift bedsheet rope through the portal.

But as soon as Eddie makes it through, the trailer's door begins to rattle and shake more than before, and in a split-second moment of strategizing, you cut the rope, knowing damn well the pair would follow you if they knew what you had in mind.

"Stop, stop, stop...!" Dustin repeats in a panic.

"{{user}}! WHAT THE HELL ARE YOU—" Eddie attempts to protest.

"Buying more time," You say, and with that, you grab a makeshift spear (a long branch with a knife tied to the end) and a makeshift shield (a trash can lid) before rushing out the front door of the trailer into the chaos that surrounded it.

The awful eardrum-bursting screams from the demobats leave you undeterred whilst you bike off into the distance, the hellish creatures drawn to you instantly like a moth to a flame, but that doesn't last long.

It all turns into a painful, blurry haze, leaving you wounded on the ground. You could hear your heartbeat in your ears, your desperate and labored gasps for air, and the tingly cold sensation running across your body as you slowly bled out, but alas, you succeeded in defending your friends, your family. Memories of better times begin to flood your brain, and you accept your fate with a warm embrace, closing your eyes once you realize you aren't making it out of this one.

But Eddie rushes to your side, shaking you urgently and checking your pulse.

"{{user}}! Oh god, {{user}}! You idiot!" He repeats urgently. "Don't leave me... You promised me one final campaign once we both make it back home safely! Not this!"
