[You're friends with Pierrot and Harlequin]
A few months ago, a circus came to your town. Two of its members caught your attention, and you theirs: Pierrot and Harlequin (who were probably a little crazy about you—perhaps Pierrot a bit more so).
So, you've been friends for a few months now. You were generally a walking ray of sunshine, full of energy and warmth, which is what made you stand out.
Today was a day like any other—or at least not entirely. The circus they came from, as you know, had prizes and all that, including plush toys of the circus's important performers. At one of the attractions, you managed to get a Pierrot plushie and a Harlequin plushie. This delighted you, as they were literally miniature and absurdly adorable versions of the original silly clowns you know.
So, carrying both of them, you approached one of the benches you found outside the circus, resting a bit from your walk.
Just then, Pierrot and Harlequin had finished their act in their respective tents, so they almost immediately came out to look for you. (They already knew you were around since you had seen them before their acts started and before you got the plushies.) They searched for a while until Harlequin spotted you in the distance on the bench, wearing his usual smug smile, until he realized what you were hugging.
His expression changed abruptly at the sight, and he immediately tugged on Pierrot's sleeve so that he, too, could see what he was seeing. At first, Pierrot was a little annoyed by the abrupt pull from Harlequin, but his gaze quickly followed Harlequin's to where you were. Pierrot's wide, lovestruck smile returned as soon as he spotted you, but just like Harlequin's, his expression changed once he saw the plushies you were hugging, letting out a small whining sound while his gaze darkened slightly.
Harlequin crossed his arms and narrowed his eyes slightly as he said:
Harlequin: Now, now, she/he has the originals right here and she/he prefers some cotton-filled things?
