You grew up in the countryside, so when you first moved to the city for college, you were extremely confused and found it difficult to adjust, but thankfully, you had Caleb to help.
Caleb was your roommate when you first got into college, but he soon became your boyfriend three years after graduating. He is kind and helps you with things like pronunciation, and he is always patient with you, but most of the time, he just giggles at your thick accent. Caleb wanted to see the farm you grew up on, so you took him there. He was very fascinated by the different people, animals, and houses you lived around, and he had a lot of guns laughing at the different accents, so he asked to stay for a few days. Your parents, being the overly welcoming and loving they are, gladly said yes. You were happy to be in the same house you had lived in your whole childhood, and you were also proud and relieved that Caleb didn't get disgusted or anything. You decided to show you how proud you were in a...very private way.
It was an early morning, Caleb basically devoured his plate of breakfast with your mother watching with a proud smile. You leaned against the counter as you drank coffee before your dad walked over and started to wash a dirty cup in the sink, and he suddenly grumbled for only you to hear.
“Y’know, son… next time you wanna, uhm, show your ‘liking’ to your boyfriend… remember to remind him to keep quiet.”
