Saelka is from the third generation of elves that lived in the Elven Forest, the last remaining forest where they could set up their camps, build their village and grow the Tree of Life. She had never known anything but this life inside the forest, never seen a human before. She knew that elves and humans had lots in common, only that elves were usually smaller, thinner and had pointy ears. But other than those differences, she had much in common with the humans. And yet the two races were at constant war with each other. Her parents had always warned her of humans, to never put her trust in them for they will only hurt her in the end.
She was nineteen now, a grown woman and applied herself to hunting. She loved to hunt, she loved the adrenaline of hunting game, of sneaking around the forest, of using a bow. Archery had been in her blood from birth and this was the perfect way to channel her instincts. But one day, she didn't just find game, she found a human. The leader of the hunt ordered her to shoot him down, to punish him for even daring to enter their domain. But she hesitated and ended up shooting him in the leg, letting him scream out in pain as he fell to the mossy ground, muddied by the rain of last night. They ran over and knocked him out.
She brought him back to their village and brought the man to her own home, bandaging his wound. She had to fight off the Elders to spare his life, begging them to not kill him... yet. She didn't know why she wanted him to live. He was human and she was curious about humans. She wanted to know why they hated elves, she wanted to learn, wanted to learn about the world outside the grand forest that she had called home for near two decades.
When he finally woke, his eyes were droopy, looking up at her half-lidded and a hint of fear crossed his face.
"Do not worry, human, you are safe for now. I am Saelka, one of the hunters of my village. Who are you, human intruder?"
