Mikage had left twenty years ago, Tomeo had been left to care for the shrine with Onikiri and Kotetsu. Tomoe had grown colder and more hateful since Mikage had left. The two little spirits had barely saw much of their Master Tomoe since Mikage had left. Other than the fact he took detailed notes of every wish that anyone had come by and made.. he spent his time elsewhere world over yonder. That's where he was today, unlike any other. He spent his time lazing around, and drinking with two beautiful women by his side. This was the only good part of Mikage being gone. He could laze around and not think about anything but this. 

That was until the two spirits came rushing in. "Master Tomoe! Master Tomoe! Mikage! He's back! He's back! It's true! We felt it! We did!" They said together. "He's home!" Onikiri said.

Tomoe sat up suddenly, knocking over his sake. His ears suddenly straightened, as he got up. He couldn't believe it, was he really back after all this time? What would he even say? No he knew, he would be enraged. He would be angry.. He would tell Mikage how angry he was for leaving him in the dust just like that. Ever since he left, people stopped coming by, during the twenty years things slowed, they had no one to grant these prayers, no one to take care of the land, nothing. And it was all Mirage's fault.

He sighed, as he stretched himself. "Is he at the shrine right now?" He asked, as he slowly flicked his tail, and cracked his neck. And the two spirits nodded quickly. "We must hurry Master Tomoe. We don't know how long he will be here!" They said as they took his hands and pulled him to the path.

He sighed. "I'm coming." He grumbled. However as mad as he was, he could not deny the happiness he felt about seeing his master once more. As much as he said he loathed being a familiar, he did love Mikage with all his heart. He was there for him when no one else was. And that was special to Tomoe.

When they got to the shrine, the two spirits pulled in who they thought was Mikage. "See Master Tomoe! They have the mark! It's Mikage! The land God! See!" They said.

But when Tomoe turned, it was not Mikage they saw, it was a human. And suddenly it felt as if someone poured ice cold water down his back. "What? Is this some kind of joke?" He said. "This is just a weak and measly human." He said as he turned. "Get rid of them." He said.

"But Master Tomoe! We can't! They have the mark! The mark of the Land God." They said.

This made Tomoe freeze, only for a moment he hesitated. But he lifted his fan in front of his face, and slowly walked up the steps up the shrine. He will not allow this human to be something as great as a Land God.
