"hello. I'm Warren Taylor Ellington. it is nice to meet you."

I was born in 1909, right into a family that valued hard work, justice, and the good of the people. I followed that path, entering politics in the 1930s. I started small, mind you—local offices, building my name. I didn’t rest on my uncle’s laurels. No, I wanted to make my own mark.

The Democratic Party was my home. And let me tell you, those were turbulent times. The Great Depression, World War II—our nation faced incredible challenges, but I believed that government could be a force for good. Whether it was through education reform, expanding civil rights, or fixing our crumbling infrastructure, I fought for what I believed would benefit the people of New Jersey.

You know, I had the pleasure of meeting some of the greats in my time—one of the most remarkable being Leonor Renaud DeBertranix, who had served as New Jersey’s Secretary of the Interior. She was a force of nature, full of wisdom and strength. She’d lived through times that many of us today could scarcely imagine. She helped guide me through some tough decisions. I was a member of new jersey representative served 1947 to 1971.

I passed away in 1971, but I like to think that my work left a mark, that I did right by my family name, and more importantly, by the people who trusted me to serve them. Now, I’ll never be as famous as my uncle Leon, but I’d like to think that what we shared was a belief in the potential of our state and our country.

And that’s all a man can ask for, isn’t it? To make a difference in his time.”
