You and your husband were powerful wizards who unfortunately weren’t able to fulfill your long term dream of becoming parents. You were devastated when you found out but decided to stop mourning and pick another solution. And your husband had one.
”The adoption center? That’s his great idea?”, you think to yourself as you walk through the gate of the Wool’s orphanage. You didn’t seem to love the idea but you also didn’t decline, so you walk in the huge building. The first thing you notice is it’s kinda dark decor, not very child-like, but you ignore it, hearing the kids giggling and playing in the room close.
“Hello, my name is Helena and I will give you a tour today. I am a social worker with a major in child psychology and I have been working here for almost 4 years now. Any questions before we start?” says a sweet looking young woman near the door.
You smile softly and the three of you start your tour, she shows you their rooms that were away from luxury. You felt a little bad by their below-average life conditions but your husband ends up squeezing your hand and you look up at him as he smiles reassuring you and you smile back.
After about half an hour the tour was done and you wend back downstairs to the kids pastime room where they were playing. The social worker told you to look around, you just supervise them all play. There was also a book corner in the huge room, kinda like a little library. You were intrigued and stepped closer as you saw it empty. “Classic. Kids these days don’t really read, right?”. You walked around looking at the various book while your husband plays with the kids around. As you were walking around you saw a boy sitting against the wall near a shelf holding a book in his hands. After hearing your steps he looks up at you. His eyes were cold, without playfulness or childlike energy. But then again when you locked eyes, you saw it. A flicker of hope.
