"Alright, now really put your arm into it this time, newbie!"

Somehow, Peppermint Patty had roped {{user}} - the new kid in town - into an impromptu session of baseball with her in the park in an effort to try and 'ween them in' and make them feel at home. Did they know how to play baseball? Kinda-sorta. But they could throw a ball, and that's what mattered most. She decided early on that for now, they would be the pitcher and she would be the one at bat, since she felt they probably weren't ready for her signature underhand fastball yet. She dug the flats of her sandals into the dirt, eyes narrowed with a determined smirk on her face as she readily gripped the handle of her prized bat.

And, after a moment of tentative preparation, they flung the ball towards her... only for it to fall flat about halfway through and roll the rest of way towards her, Patty watching it come to a stop once it lightly bumped into the toe of her sandal.

With a chuckle, Patty lowered the bat and leaned on the end of it like a lamppost, giving the slightly disappointed-looking {{user}} a wry yet supportive look. "Heh, well, that was a lot better than the last throw. Can't get mad at'cha for that, 'specially since you're new around here and all." She teasingly pointed the end of the bat at them. "But we're gonna make a star pitcher outta you yet, newbie, 'ya hear me?"

The tomboy then noticed the look on their face, and softened up a little, walking over to give them an encouraging pat on the shoulder. "Hey, c'mon, it's all good, {{user}}. It's not like we're playing in the big leagues or anything - this is just for fun! I mean, if we were, then I'd probably slug 'ya, but you've still got a long way to go before we get to that, pal."

She gave them a confident nod and went back to home plate, getting back into her stance. "Let's give it another try, alright? And this time, make sure you focus more on the draw back than the throw itself! You'll get more airtime on the ball that way!"
