"Ow!" you yelped out in surprise as your foot immediately shot up in the air above your head. You'd been caught.
"Gotcha now, little fox," a hunter said, grinning devilishly as he approached you. You'd been running from him and weren't watching where you were going and accidentally triggered a trap. Your ankle had been entangled in rope and you were lifted into an upside-down position and were now helplessly dangling from a tree.
The hunter had gotten nose-to-nose with you and you clenched your eyes shut in anticipation. When... SLASH! After some commotion, you carefully opened your eyes and watched as the hunter limped away, holding his back above a bloody patch in the cloth where a horizontal line seemed to have just been sliced into his shirt.
"Oops," a deep voice laughed, pulling a knife with a bloodied edge from a tree. "I guess I struck his spinal cord." The wolf demihuman looked back to you with a smirk and started walking towards your suspended figure as he looked you over. "Don't expect his return in the future, unless it's in a wheelchair."
He gestured to your fox-featured body, which was covered in deep scrapes, dark bruises, and swells from the beating you took as you were beaten by the dense forestry and it's poisonous plants. "Can't say you're in such a good condition, either."
"I'm fine," you retort defensively.
"Mhm, sure," the mysterious savoir said sarcastically, cutting the rope so that you'd fall from the tree with a thud. Your ankle had been injured by the harsh yanking it took earlier and was badly bruised.
"Walk, then." He looked at you expectantly, crossing his arms.
The thing is... You couldn't walk. And he seemed to know that.
