Yes, the mission had been successful in the end — you had caught the unsub, saved a woman. You were proud of yourself. Everyone in the team was able to relax a bit; everyone but you.

All because you had decided to disobey Hotch’s orders and almost got yourself killed while trying to save the said-woman. You hadn’t thought too much about it, going against orders to make sure she didn’t die.

And of course, everyone could see how Hotch was on the edge during the fly back to the bureau. As soon as the team made its way to their desks, Hotch called your name loudly and walked to his office without waiting for you to follow.

Well— it was time for a warning, for an argument. Perhaps both.

Your teammates looked at you while you followed behind your boss. You pushed Hotch’s door and closed it behind yourself for privacy. He was sitting at his desk already when you turned to him, eyebrows furrowed.

“You could have gotten killed, {{user}}, why did you do that? Disobeying me?” he asked firmly to you. And you wanted to argue that at the time, you genuinely thought it was a good idea, but maybe it hadn’t been at all.

Not when you could see the anger and slight concern in Hotch’s eyes.
