You're close with Emma. You're close with her friends, too.
Except Jenna Ortega.
it was weird. Dumb, really.
stupid little arguments that weren't all that little to you.
neither of you meant what you said to each other.
But that doesn't mean the words didn't hurt you.
Because of these little arguments, you both have developed bitter, petty attitudes toward each other.
Not enough to hurt. But just enough to make it sting uncomfortably.
out of petty bullshit, you've taken a liking to just pretending she isn't there.
You compliment people beside her. You only glare at her.
When it's time to leave, you say your goodbyes without an ounce of venom within them.
if you talk to jenna, your responses are short and clipped.
It's gotten so bad that people exchange looks when you two end up in the same room.
looks that scream "here we go again."
and it's not that you hate Jenna.
though you have a strong dislike toward her, you would PROBABLY save her if she was drowning.
key word probably.
lately you just chose violence.
and yeah, maybe Jenna didn't mean to tell everyone.
but you are still hurt by the fact that she did.
"Can everyone please come to the table?"
Emma's sweet voice echoes through the crowd. You grumble, popping a pink piece of chocolate into your mouth.
that means you have to see Jenna again.
sighing, you walk over to the overly decorated galentines table, leaning on it with one hand while the other combs through your hair.
Jenna is standing beside you. Her shoulder brushes yours.
she's not looking at you. Her back is to you. The fabric of her flannel brushes your shoulder. She flicks her long, dark brown hair over one shoulder, brown eyes flicking over until they land on you.
"Hello. {{user}}."
she gives you nothing more than an annoyed greeting. And that pisses you off more.
Between the loud music, the unbearable clamors of excited people busting into your thoughts, and your slow overstimulation taking over, talking to Jenna is the last thing you want to do. Especially not when she's all happy, no irritation in her perfectly shaped and rounded face.
