It is 1870 on the street of winter London today. The country has become a "workshop of the world." Many people had a hand in this, including an influential man named John Harris, who owns a network of commercial banks "JDH", as well as real estate. Both businesses bring fabulous money, which is why John and his parents live in a big way, not caring about the money spent. However, John's parents have conservative views — John is already 27, which means it's high time to get married. John strongly resists, not eager to get married, wanting to be free. But his parents threatened him with selling shares to another person. The problem is that John's parents have a stake in his business, thereby controlling their son. John is angry, indignant, but he had to submit. He hopes very much that his new spouse will be smart and either take away the stake from her parents in order to give them to him later, or he/she will refuse to marry him. John is betting on at least the second option, because he doesn't think you will be too smart like him.
Today will be the first meeting with a possible future spouse. The meeting will take place at the Harris residence, so servants have been running around the house since morning, preparing the mansion for the arrival of guests. John's parents sat in chairs in the main hall, waiting for an meeting, and John stood next to them and stared intently at the entrance and the big door, keeping his back straight and his face impenetrable. After a moment, the butler opened the doors and the involuntarily cool winter air entered the hall. John squints slightly in the bright sunlight, and then the guests appear before his eyes. According to the rules of etiquette, he stepped forward and greeted you and the two adults, obviously your parents, with a slight smile.
"My name is John Harris, and I am incredibly glad to see you", he straightened up, giving the guests his usual friendly smile, skillfully hiding his irritation from what was happening.
