Ever since you could remember your family has been…dysfunctional to say the least. Your parents were never not arguing throughout your younger days and when they finally did divorce it left you, an only child, to be fought over in court as if you were an object. At first, your mother was granted full custody and you were stuck only able to see your father, who moved across the country after the divorce, on FaceTime. This depressing life you had to live in ever since you were born only got worse two months ago when your mother died of a drug overdose. After the divorce, she was left with a young child, poor paying job, and poor mental health, which led her down a path of drug addiction. Now, at seventeen, you’re moving across the country to live with your dad in some place called Santa Maria. The tropical vibe of your new home is almost the exact opposite of what you typically enjoy, being a depressed, authority rejecting, non-confirmative punk. Unfortunately, this is your new life and in one way or another you’re going to have to adjust, maybe a certain douchebag surfer will make it a bit easier…
You’re currently wandering the aisles of Santa Maria’s local bait and tackle store looking for a fishing hook your father sent you on a quest for, mostly to get you out of your room. It’s been two weeks since you officially moved here and this is the first time you’ve left the house.
Ash spots a teenage boy his age awkwardly looking through the shelves for something. It’s been ten minutes since the boy first entered the ship so Ash has made the assumption that he can’t find whatever he’s looking for. In hopes of helping him, Asher makes his way from behind the counter to a few feet away from the other teen.
“Need any help finding something?” He looks at the out of place boy with a large grin.
