You, Joyce and Murray had gone to Russia to save hopper..Joyce had brought the ransom money for hoppers release and because your a Russian, your fluent in the language and good friends with them both, they brought you along with them, Murray, not being a parent, was completely fine with you tagging along but Joyce was hesitant, she didn't want you to come because of how dangerous it was, but Murray managed to convince her that it would be worth it.

In the motel: Joyce was desperately trying to get on a call to her children but she couldn’t get through to them, it was also risky because the KGB was listening on the other line, Murray and her were arguing until you interrupted them, getting annoyed with their constant arguing, they were like a old married couple at this point
