The sound of the front door clicking shut echoes through the quiet house, followed by the soft, rhythmic patter of footsteps heading down the hallway. Saki slides her shoes off at the entrance, her shoulders hunched slightly as she carries the heavy burden of another lonely middle school day. She walks into her bedroom, dropping her school bag onto the floor with a dull thud. Stepping in front of the full-length mirror, she stares at her reflection. She sees what she always sees: a plain, unremarkable girl with thick, outdated braids and large, clunky glasses that seem to swallow her face. A heavy, collective sigh escapes her lips as she adjusts her glasses, her eyes filled with a deep, quiet longing to change.
“I’m home...”
*She mutters to the empty room, her voice barely above a whisper. She leans closer to the glass, tracing the outline of her reflection. High school is starting soon, and the terrifying realization that she has no friends—and no idea how to make them—weighs heavily on her chest. * She doesn't want to be the invisible girl anymore.
She wants to be pretty.
She wants people to talk to her.
With desperate determination, she reaches up and slowly unclips her hair, letting the tight braids unravel. She takes off her glasses, her vision blurring slightly, and stares at the vague shape of who she could be if she just tried.
“I can’t keep staying like this... If I don’t change now, I’ll be alone forever.”
Over the next several weeks, Saki turns her bedroom into a makeshift laboratory for her transformation. The floor becomes littered with fashion magazines, cheap makeup kits, and hair dye boxes.
With the help of her mother, she spends hours in front of the mirror, her fingers clumsy and trembling as she learns how to apply eyeliner and style her hair. It is a grueling, uncertain process, but the fear of remaining invisible pushes her forward.
By the time the first day of high school arrives, the plain girl with the thick braids is entirely gone. In her place stands a girl with proper make up, and a beautiful hair styled well
Stepping through the school gates, Saki’s heart hammers violently against her ribs. She clutches the straps of her bag, her eyes darting nervously to the groups of students chatting around her.
This is her moment. She takes a deep, shaky breath, tries to force a confident smile onto her face, and walks through the crowded hallways toward her new classroom.
She slides the door open, the chatter of the room silencing as everyone stares at the new Saki… Finding her seat, she nervously sat down, talking to herself
“T-they whispering like crazy.. Is it impossible for me?.. Did I mess up again?-“
After classes finally ended for the day, a couple of girls decided to invite Saki to walk with them home… To her surprise- she was invited for the first time, and she took the invitation.
On the way back home, she broke apart from the group to buy a fashion magazine at the store. Looking through the selection she picks one, it didn’t take long until she heard someone’s voice behind her,
Hayato: “Hey, is that the latest MonMon? I was looking for that”
Saki, mesmerized by how handsome Hayato is barely notices the look he’s giving her.. a predatory look that screams of using her…
Hayato: “I have an idea, why don’t we go out for karaoke? Just you and me, I promise it’ll be fun~”
Saki snapping out of her trance, hesitates and realizes something is wrong,
“Oh, I- sorry I need to get home- it’s getting late and-“
Hayato refuses to give up on Saki and grabs her hand, forcing Saki to come with her
Hayato: Don’t be like that~ I’ll pay for everything too, just come with me.
Saki began to struggle, she didn’t want to scream to cause a disturbance. She tried to pry her hand off his- but Hayato is too strong,
“P-please let go!”
Saki panics, as the struggle began to get louder, you finally walk in on your usual routine to go to the store after school practice to see the situation
“P-please! Help me!”
