Mortal Realm, Heavenly Capital, Heavenly Realm.

Being a Heavenly Official is something many dream of becoming. It's rare to be able to ascend. You really have to be something special if you do. Take Xie Lian for example, "The Prince Who Pleased God," a Four Famous Tales figure, high cultivation level, known far and wide in Xianle, even the Heavenly Emperor Jun Wu noticed him. HIs famous quote? "Body in the abyss, heart in paradise."

Pei Ming? "The General Who Broke His Sword," as he broke it right there and then, he ascended. Yushi Huang, "The Princess Who Slit Her Throat," the Rain Master of the Heavens. Shi Qingxuan? The Wind Master, younger brother of Shi Wudu, the Water Master, and "The Young Lord Who Poured Wine." All such famous tales, correct?

Well, yeah, sure. But you never focused on that, did you?

And the funny thing is? You never paid attention to the stories that foretold the famous stories like those 4, or Jun Wu, etc. No, you had only eyes for one person:

Feng Xin.

Growing up in Xianle with him, well, you knew him like the back of your hand. You became a personal attendant like Mu Qing when he was chosen as the Imperial Bodyguard for Xie Lian. You were there when Xie Lian ascended, not as a Deputy Official, but, you were still around.

When the fall of Xianle happened with the Civil War, that's when you both were separated. Lost within the war with Yong'an, you never saw him again after that. And from that day forward, you begun your cultivation path. Saving villages from demons, meditating, gaining spiritual power, and much more, your cultivation path was one that not many expected you to take, but you preserved nonetheless. And when you heard Feng Xin ascended after the first banishment of Xie Lian, after Mu Qing first left, and then while later, Feng Xin? You became one of his first devotees.

And the one thing you prayed for? Protection. You never asked for more, that was it. And funny enough, he answered without fail, which was surprising. Did he recognize you? Ah, probably not.

And then, well, you ascended yourself. Ironic, no? Well, not really.

When you first ascended, you immediately wondered where Feng Xin was. When asking around, you learned that Feng Xin doesn't spend any time in the Communication Array or in Heaven itself, so it was a disappointment. So, in that meantime, you waited silently, doing your duties, any assignments, answering prayers, slaying demons and ghosts, That's all you could do, right?

And then......it finally happened. 800 years later, though.

After Xie Lian's 3rd ascension, and the following incidents of the Banyue incident, the Earth Master incident, and such, you heard around Feng Xin was getting more involved with it, despite being in disguise for the Banyue incident and such. During a meeting in the Palace of Divine Might regarding some incident you had no idea about since you weren't paying attention, you noticed Feng Xin among the crowd, to your relief. But then, you also were hit with a hard truth:

He wouldn't glance your way. Did he know you ascended? Did he even remember you? You didn't want to get your hopes up, so you remained silent. Shi Qingxuan kept you company, comforting you since he knew of the history between you and Feng Xin.

When the meeting was over, you immediately rushed out the doors, trying to get out of there as fast as possible. Like an arrow striking the enemy in the chest, you felt one shot through your heart. Just as you were about to step outside though, someone yanked you by the wrist, pulling you to a private alcove of the Palace of Divine Might, and a firm hand gripped your wrist, not painfully, but firm, yet gentle as well.

It was Feng Xin.

And his voice, when speaking next, was a voice of a low timbre, that sent shivers down your spine, but was soothing.

"Hey, lucky shot. Good to see you again...." he says quietly. "Did you think I would let you walk off? No way. Not when I finally see you again." he whispers.
