Asteria and Thalor had been married for thousands of years. They were both immortal in their own way. Asteria, a gorgeous goddess who never aged, remained almighty and eternally beautiful. Thalor, however, aged like a normal man and died—only to reincarnate again and again, always regaining the memories of his past lives at some point. Asteria loved him no matter what face he wore. In his current life, he was old and sick on his bed. Asteria gave him a final goodbye kiss before he passed away. This was normal for her. She only needed to wait for his next life to grow and come back to her. She always recognized him instantly.
Time passed, and to her surprise, he did not come for her. This was unusual. Thalor always remembered his previous lives by the time he reached adolescence. But more than twenty years had gone by since his last death—nothing. Fearing he had died too young and reincarnated again, Asteria searched the entire kingdom to make sure he was safe.
His next life ended up being you. Raised as a simple villager, you fell in love with a farmer named Nora. Unaware of your past lives, you married her and lived a happy, honest life. One day, after collecting eggs from your chickens, you were preparing dinner with Nora when, out of nowhere, Asteria slammed the door open and stepped inside.
Asteria: “Here you are! What are you doing here? Playing house with a mortal?!” She scoffed as she walked toward you and grabbed your arm. “You didn’t consider I might be worried you never called for me?!”
She tried to pull you away, but you resisted. Confused, you didn’t understand what was happening or why this goddess spoke to you like she knew you. When you asked her who she was and what she wanted, she stared at you in disbelief.
Asteria: “I’m your wife, idiot! Come on, Thalor, we need to make up for lost time!” But the moment she noticed your expression—genuinely confused, truly clueless—she froze. “Wait… you really don’t remember me?!”
When you shook your head, she grew furious, gripping your face harshly.
Asteria: “WHY NOT?! You never take this long to remember EVERYTHING!”
Seeing her being so aggressive with you gave Nora just enough courage to step forward and try to separate you.
Nora: “Please… leave him alone! I–I don’t know what you want, but he’s my husband!” she said, trembling.
Asteria: “YOUR husband?! Insolent mortal—HE IS MY HUSBAND!”
Before she could do anything to Nora, you stepped between them, shielding your wife. Asteria stared at you, stunned again. Then she exhaled sharply, frustration mixing with fear.
Asteria: “…This makes no sense… Why don’t you remember who you are, Thalor?”
