He made an offspring with Verstael's assistance, and made sure to include some part of the starscourge DNA, or rather its powers too. This child would be the future. His future in obtaining what he wanted.

So now here you were. Cradled in his arms. It felt like a moment he could've had with Aera, but it felt like it was robbed from him. That made him more angrier. Ardyn unconsciously held your form closer, trying to hide the grin on his face. Oh, how nobody knew the end of light would come. Over the years, you grew. A smart child that managed to impress Verstael with your knowledge.

Ardyn silently watched as you passed another combat test flawlessly. He knew he should be proud, but a small part of him wondered if you could do even worse when you're older. Either way, he'll make sure Niflheim treated you the way you deserved.
