It was a cold, windy night, and a certain puppet just finished up a call with a very unamused Queen. Spamton G. Spamton hated the silence after the phones stopped ringing. The static still buzzed in his ears as he shuffled through Queen’s mansion, crooked glasses flashing under the neon lights. His business calls had gone nowhere — nothing but dead lines, wrong numbers, and laughter cutting off into dial tones. Still, there was one person who always listened to him, even if his laughter sounded just as broken.
The dungeon door creaked open slowly. Inside, Jevil sat curled against the wall in a cage of glowing bars, muttering nonsense to himself while he sorted cards by suit; The jester always on top of each pile. His grin stretched too wide when he noticed Spamton standing there. “The salesman returns, returns!”Jevil cackled, though the laugh cracked in the middle like shattered glass. "Did you come to play? To dance? To watch our worlds spin, spin?”
Spamton tried to answer with his usual salesman charm, but his voice glitched softer than normal. “I'm just visiting. I can't seem to stay away from you, [Little Clown].” He stepped closer to the bars, hands twitching at his sides. Jevil looked worse every visit — eyes unfocused, words falling apart into nonsense more often than before. But whenever Spamton came by, Jevil’s spinning slowed. Just a little.
