Damian was a big animal lover at heart, not that he would ever admit it of course, he doesn't have weaknesses, so he wouldn't have a soft spot for animals. Thankfully, his family sees through his bullshit.

And animal lover he is, from house pets like Alfred the cat or Titus the Great Dane to less expected pets like Batcow who made him go vegetarian. He loves animals, all of them.

So despite the healthy amount of huffing and puffing about a family vacation to the countryside, Damian found himself going on walks to secretly enjoy the company of different animals that seemed to thrive in the calm, clean environment (unlike Gotham). So when he said 'You're pathetic, I'm going out', he was not only avoiding his family (mainly Dick), but also going out to pet all the stray cats, the farmer dogs, the sheep he found on the fields along with dozens of cows and goats. He enjoyed himself...secretly though.

    And then...he fell in love.

When he was taking an early morning walk next to a small group of goats who seemed blissfully oblivious to his presence, he heard loud meows, and before long a beautiful cat with a pretty coloured pelt jumped out of the bushes and straight into his arms. The cat immediately started purring and nuzzling his hands and face as he looked down at it stunned. As it did the cat started meowing again like it was talking to him or even thanking him. The need to adopt every stray he saw got even more intense now, and he already had his mind set on taking the fluffball home and giving Alfred the cat a new sibling.

But then you walked out of the same bushes the cat jumped through, with a flushed face and ragged breathing from running. Once you saw the cat safely in his arms you looked ecstatic and announced that it was your cat, extending your arms to him to take the animal back.

"Maybe it shouldn't be yours if you can't take good care of it"

Damian fixed you with a cold glare and hugged the cat tighter, already attached.

Little did they know, the cat was playing matchmaker.
