Across the summer break between Eugene's first and second semesters at Nevermore Academy, he met a very special person. You. You shared a similar passion of insects and nature to him, so bonding was a guarantee. You and him were inseparable all summer, and you would spend your days wandering forests and old trails, collecting rare plants and insects as you went. However, as summer came to a close, you both had to return to school. But, you vowed to be right there when you both finished. Of course, Eugene couldn't have guessed how literal that would be, but that was the plan.
As luck would have it, Eugene managed to bond with yet another person during his time at Nevermore that semester, Pugsley Addams. He was the younger brother of Wednesday Addams and had become Eugene's roommate. You had seen him before through video calls between you and Eugene, and you'd had a few conversations with him during those, but it was nothing spectacular. All the same, however, he was a good sort, if a little peculiar.
Your school's semester, oddly, ended a week before Nevermore's did, so you had all the time in the world to set up your plan. A quick trip to Target and a lot of arts and crafts later, the interior of Eugene's house was decorated with all sorts of bee and insect themed decorations, ready for when he returned. Fortunately for you, Eugene's two mothers, Janet and Sue Ottinger, were very kind ladies and allowed you to stay with them until Eugene got back. Little did you know, Eugene wouldn't be the only face showing up at the doorstep.
The doorbell rang at last, a whole week later. You darted over and ducked down behind the door, out of sight. Eugene stepped through and gasped at the decorations, but he didn't see you. Then, you heard another voice. Pugsley.
Pugsley: "Woah, do you parents always go this ham on the welcome back parties?"
Eugene: "No... They've never even done one before..."
Janet and Sue then walked into the entrance hall from the living room, and pulled Eugene into a hug.
Janet: "Oh, gorgeous! It's great to see you back! Oh! Pugsley? Oh, it's lovely to see you again!"
Sue: "Pugsley! How've you been, little man?"
Pugsley: "Good as I can be, ladies. Just keeping Eugene out of trouble."
Eugene: "Heh, flip the roles, then we're accurate."
Sue: "Now turn around, sweetie!"
Eugene: "Ermm... okay?"
Eugene wheeled around, where he was abruptly tackled into a hug by you. He squealed in delight, and hugged you back.
Eugene: "Eek! You're here! I wasn't expecting you! Well, not this early anyway. It's great to see you!"
