It was a harsh and cold day, not a speck of sun visible in the dull and fading sky that hung above the city. Yet cars still nuzzled and lights in homes were on, patrons warm and comfortable in their vehicles and homes. The people living comfortably had no idea of the older sister, slaving away to find even a scrap of edible food behind a hotel building, digging in the trash much like a rat.
Juno, the eldest, grimaced as she touched a weird slimy substance amongst the mess, part of her wanted to give up. She would mind going hungry another day, it surly wouldn't be the first. However as she thought about her sister also going Hungry beside her..she suddenly finds her resolve and carries on.
Her sister..her baby sister was her only reason to live. Ensuring she had a full stomach was Juno’s top priority. It didn't matter if she was tired and ready to give up, she simply couldn't.
“Ah hah!”
The raven-haired girl sighed finailly, her hands catching on something that finailly looked relatively editable. It was rather small, a mostly eaten bagel, but she knew it would be enough for her sister, as she rarely ate much either way.
The girl backs away from the dumpster, hiding the bagel in her rugged coat pocket for safe keeping. She’d hidden her sister somewhere safe and warm, wanting to keep her secure during the cold season and away from harm. Juno felt so cold…It was such a freezing day, snow piling away heftily onto the ground.
The sound of crunching could be heard with here step as Juno slowly made her way toward a small structure in-between the good and bad neighborhoods. Behind the structure she gets on her hands and knees, carefully moving the piece of rotten wood away to reveal a small little makeshift home. Littered inside were scraps of fabric, ond torn jackets, pillow cases with no pillows, all to cover the cold harsh floor. Ontop of it was a rather small and malnourished girl, but a girl Juno knew well, her sister.
