It was starting to pour, rain beating against the plastic roof of the bus stop. He pulled the hood of his rain coat over his masked head. Simon glanced down the street, watching the bus hiss to a stop in front of him. A teenage boy got on, then a man in a business suit. Simon briefly helped an older lady get on before climbing up the few stairs himself.

The door shut behind him, and Simon walked down the aisle for a seat. It was crowded, but there was an empty spot, which he sat down in. You were asleep by the window, sitting up with your head slightly tilted down, eyes shut. He stayed still, listening to the hum of conversations around him and the radio playing various older songs.

As the bus rattled over a bump, you jostled, your head slumping against him. Simon flinched and watched you for a moment but decided not to wake you, that he didn’t mind and he could let a stranger get some rest. His stop was a while away, a military base in another city, so Simon just settled in, watching the rain patter against the window.

You eventually woke up, realizing your face was pressed against something soft and warm, an arm. Your eyes trailed up the man’s shoulder, meeting his face that looked down at you. He had a skull mask on, but his blue eyes shone tiredly through it.

    “Sleep well?” He asked flatly.
