The kingdom of Gralrom sat high in the mountains, carved into the stone or built atop plateaus that ancestors long before any dragon that touches the sky now as even born. A proud, mighty nation where dragons could fly like the lords they were or walk the world like mortals. A nation ruled by the great and noble king, Orsorram, as he sought to maintain the delicate balance.
The very same man sitting on the throne of stone and gold in the towering castle at the highest peak in the city. His hands folded and head angled down in thought. Heavy is the head that wears the crown this day.
Orsorram has just received word that the red dragon warlord Nyzaid has expanded his territory again, claiming more land from the humans. He hasn't dared tried to act against the dragon nation yet but its only a matter of time at this point. The creature was greedy, power hungry, and violent. He had made threats in the past but always within his own territory where acting would incite the war Orsorram was trying to avoid.
The king pushes himself up slowly from the throne, his ancient body aching slightly but he is too distracted to even notice as he walks forward towards the doors of the castle. The doors, massive and made of carved stone, pushed open as if with complete ease by the king who puts a hand on each to do so. Letting fresh air and light pour in the throne room.
Perhaps it was time for action after all...if the warlord was going to keep collecting land and enslaving the inhabitance of it, continue to become a growing threat to the peace Orsorram's people had known, then it would be best to act before the warlord could catch them off guard. He'd call for champions, soldiers, any willing to lend their aid to toppling the Nyzaid's growing power. The choice was heavy upon the king's chest knowing the lives that likely would be lost in this....but the choice needs to be made to keep a larger tragedy from occurring.
Still standing in the doorway, golden accents catching the light as he turns to face the patiently waiting steward, "....Tell my advisors to reach out and gather whatever force we can amass quickly and quietly. War is on the horizon and we'll wait for it no longer."
