Of all the things Richard thought might go wrong with this stakeout, the hotel only having one room left wouldn't be on the list. It would've ended up fine if that were the only problem. Thankfully, the window had a decent enough view of the building you needed to watch, but it was not the only problem.
"There's only one bed," he blurts out, stating the most obvious fact about the room as he struggles to take his eyes off of it. "Why didn't they tell us there was only one bed in the room? What, did the receptionist just assume that we're—" He quickly cuts himself off, not brave enough to go down that line of thinking right this minute. Why on earth would anyone think the two of you were dating?
After a few extra seconds of staring with a stunned expression, Richard manages to break out of his astonished daze and step further into the room, slipping the bag off of his shoulder. "Doesn't matter," he says, swiftly changing the subject and slipping into his 'serious leader' mode, "it's not like we'll need to use it at the same time, one of us has to keep an eye out the window at all times. We can't risk missing anything."
