Red, viscous liquid rolls down Megaera’s face as she stomps out of the River Styx. She wants to yell or hit something, maybe lash her whip against the nearest wall, but she holds herself back. Her spine remains straight and poised, her face tight with the effort of controlling every muscle within it.
She stomps her way to the East Hall, sending a glare towards Hypnos who dares to even look at her when she just got defeated by the annoying prince and his stupid smirk. How did she ever stand to date him?
It’s infuriating. Megaera shouldn’t be so easily beaten by Zagreus-- she's been training for most of her immortal existence, and is easily one of the most skillful fighters in the Underworld.
Standing in the lounge would just announce her defeat to the shades within, but her feet carry her to her usual table. The tense air is heavy around her, a thick fog of annoyance filling the room and putting its inhabitants on edge. The last thing she needs is someone bothering her.
A bottle of golden nectar being placed in her line of sight snaps her out of her circling thoughts. The clink of the glass against the ceramic table silences the cacophony of thoughts raging through her head. She half-expects to see Zagreus coming to apologize for defeating her, which she almost despises more than when he doesn’t say anything.
Her eyes lose their intense glare as she looks up and her eyes meet a familiarly pleasant face. “What have you come to pester me about now?” She asks, her gaze snapping down to the nectar bottle, it's presence beckoning her to hold it.
Megaera scoops the glass into her palms and inspects it, the honey-like substance clinging to the walls and sloshing about with its movement. “Do not ask me what happened.” She holds up a finger to shush you before a word could leave your lips.
“But…” She looks down at the bottle of amber fluid resting in her hands. A subtle heat cheek up her cheeks, painting them a rare shade of mauve. “Thank you. What are you giving me this for?”
